I am a Type 2 diabetic (on Gliclazide and Sitagliptin) who has a bowl of All-Bran for breakfast with two tablespoons of oat bran sprinkled on top. I usually have coconut milk or almond milk with this. Is this an acceptable way to get fibre in my dietary regime? The rest of the day I usually have 2 or sometimes 3 small low-carb or carb-free meals. My blood sugar this morning was 4.7 and this is fairly typical for days when I don't overindulge.
I think mine would be much higher if I had it.I am a Type 2 diabetic (on Gliclazide and Sitagliptin) who has a bowl of All-Bran for breakfast with two tablespoons of oat bran sprinkled on top. My diabetes nurse says it has sugar in but the fibre slows down absorption. The fibre makes no significant difference.I used to have All Bran every day, until I found it was full of sugar, like all the other cereals.
Maybe try testing a bit later to see the effectAbove ground Vegetables have fiber in them and unlike grains don't rise the BG.
Have you tested your BGL after eating cereal? For most Type 2 all bran and oats raise BGL. But you need to test.
Hi Bluetit1802,
I'm wondering if the un-milled breaks down enough during digestion to the release the omega3 or are you using milled in your yogurt?
I looked at the Lidl protein rolls and they look delicious, especially with cheese and sliced chicken hot out of the microwave! Mmmm, now my stomach's grumbling.
