Hi, rings a bell with me this one.
You are on Lantus, and while I was on lantus I had the worst unpredictable, erratic control ever. I had been type-1 for 15 years when I was put on it, and things went downhill from there. I tried to find a pattern to it, but there was not one. I did and ate the same things, but no 2 days were the same. I could be up at 15 or 17 after breakfast, and next day peak at 8! I also had days when BGs would be low all day without any Humalog, and other days through the roof no matter how much humalog I took. As soon as I came off Lantus and changed to pork insulin, my control was fine and has been since.-and I felt human again
Lot of people report similar probs on lantus, and I have had many people PM me over this issue.
Lantus works fine for some people, but for others not only does it cause unpredictable BG control, but many side-effects; partiuclarly extreme unusual tiredness, poor cognitive function & memory problems, joint & muscular pain and fluid retention.
I've seen your recent postings and your high 20 - 30 levels make frightening reading, I'm glad you've got that down a bit, but am surprised your doc has not suggested an alternative medication.
I hope you get things sorted soon.
