Hi folks,
I love peanut butter and while at the supermarket today I noticed there were jars of Almond butter next to the peanut butter... question... is it as nice as my fav peanut butter? it was twice+ the price so was alittle cautious to buy the almond one, i eat almonds so was wondering if the butter is a good thing for us type 2's? any comments welcome thanks Heather

not seen it, sounds nice. I know peanut butter is a good low carb spread, so imagine the Almond stuff must be similar. Almonds have a lower GI than peanuts I believe. What does it say about carbs on the Jar?

I had a quick scan of carb content.... 6.5 per 100g so not to bad at all.
It was in sainsburys.....but i found this on google http://www.auravita.com/product/Natural-Almond-Butter.NAST12848.html?RefId=220&adid=NAST12848
hope that works ok. next time i'm in town think i'll get some and will let you know what its like

Throw a handful of any nut in a blender and blend until smooth. Particularly wonderful with macadamias. I throw in a square of bitter chocolate too, the grandchildren love it.

Beware nut butters, especially peanut, as they often contain sugar, salt and in the USA, hydrogenated vegetable fats.

No binder needed. Just keep the blender going until the oils in the nuts turn them into smooth nut butter.
