Hello,

Roti/Indian bread is a staple for me. I have now found that it spikes me a lot and I am looking for alternates to eat once/twice a day with usual veggies etc.

I have tried brown rice and they also dont seem to sit well with me for now. I am trying KETO way of living and in order to sustain, i need to find an alternate for indian bread/roti.

What do other use?

You could try:
1.5 cups gram flour
1.5 cups water
Mix well and let stand a couple of hours
Cook in thin layer in a hot pan turning once
You can add cumin seeds or garlic or any other combination you choose before cooking or garlic butter whilst still hot. You can slap an egg on top or bacon or as much veg as you like.

It has a lot of carbs but with me it tends not to spike me particularly, 1.2 average rise over 2hrs, the spike may last longer so take care, when served with the garlic butter, mind you no one comes near for a couple of hours after.

That recipe is fab and so adaptable. I often add nigella seeds or black onion seed, or maybe fresh coriander. I also add sweetener allspice and cinnamon to make a sweet-ish scone substitute.
I also use that recipe it is the same as the one in the Tom Kerridge Dopamine Diet book. It is not a roti but a good substitute with a Curry.

Why dont you try the wonderful keto Low Carb mediterranean flat bread, its amazing, so easy to make, being flat bread you can mop up all wonderful juices, sauces with it, and not feel guilty.......... Here we go, but look on www.dietdoctor.com
also to pull off the actual recipe.

half cup coconut flour
1 tablespoon ground psyllium husk power no carb check the packets some have carbs some non
4 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup boiling water
1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese or mozzarella cheese whatever you prefer, I use parmesan
half teaspoon salt optional
1 glove garlic chopped very small
sprinkling of fresh or dried rosemary.
1/2 tablespoon black cracked peppercorns.

whisk dry ingredients together in large mixing bowl
add olive oil and cheese
add hot boiling water last, stirring as it is added, continue stirring until the psyllium fibre and coconut flour have absorbed all of the water
Dough should be moist and little sticky spongy feel to it.
flatten dough onto parchment paper on a baking tray.
Roll or press out the dough until it is thin and even, be sure its uniform thickness to cook evening, and less than 1 inch thick

Bake 350CF or 180 fan forced for 20 to 25 mins. Baking times depends thickness dough.

Happy cooking in the kitchen, wonderful alternative bread for everything, adding cheese, various topping. Simply double or triple quantities if you want to make a big batch.

Once its cold I cut into squares, bag it and freeze it all! Just take it out when needed. If morning to put avoc and tom on top, pop it into the toaster to warm it and crispen it, its delicious.

Enjoy, hope this helps solution the "bread" problem.

You can try ragi roti or ragi dosa.
Don’t know the recipe of ragi roti.

Ragi dosa
Ragi powder + curd + salt + chopped onion+ chopped coriander leaves +water

Make it quite watery

Pour it on a nonstick tava coated with oil.

Cover and cook on low flame.
Takes a while to cook
Turn the dosa and let it cook on both sides.

You can eat it with chuney or with egg white omelette.
Ragi is a form of millet and seems to be about 80% carbs so probably not suitable for the OP

In place of naans with a curry, for a quick replacement I use Joseph’s low carb mini pitta breads (I buy them from Amazon) I grill one side then turn it over, spread with garlic butter (I add some coriander) then grill the buttered side. I’m not sure if naans and rotis are the same, excuse my ignorance, but I find these pittas a very acceptable alternative, only 4g carbs per mini pitta

Poor grammar, bullying and drunks.
Sahil's recipes on HeadbangersKitchen are just great. My family just love his seafood recipes.
