I want to go on a trek in Nepal for 4 weeks reaching a high point of 17,000 feet from a start point of 9,000. I'm type 2 and my last 4 HbA1c readings have each been 5.7 using 2x500 Metformin per day and following a low carb diet. I know that I'll have to up my carbs but I don't think that will have a lasting detrimental effect but I really don't know. It would be great if anybody who has done something similar could give me some advice on how to handle diabetes at altitude. Thank you.
