I don't know if its because im not getting enough food or im diabetic.

Sometimes, especially in a morning, i feel really tired and my vision is blurry and i feel light headed, almost like when you take too many deep breaths, i feel fatigued, dizzy, sweating, sweet food cravings..

About 20-30mins after eating something sugary my vision gets better and i feel ok again but it keeps coming on and off.

I haven't been to my GP about it yet, any help/advice would be brilliant.

Hi patto,
Sorry to hear you don't feel so good.
No one on here can diagnose diabetes. In view of your symptoms I would advise that you see your G.P. as soon as you can. It could be diabetes, it could be something else. Take a list of your symptoms with you so that you don't forget anything you want to tell him/her.

Hope this helps,
Catherine.

I had high blood pressure and went for a cholestrol check as well as i knew i was over weight around 3 weeks ago.

Went for a fasting blood sample, not ate anything from 10pm till 10am.

Was told would not hear anything unless something was wrong with the results.

Got a hell of a shock when i was told i was diabetic, wanted to do a runner and was in denial, just as well my partner was with me who is a midwife and told me to sit down.

Advice was so so stay off sugar but no support i was the last patient, appointment was a bit late 1hour and they wanted home, this was around 10 past 6.

Now i am on Metomorfin 2000mg per day.

First thing i did was go on the net on Diabetes Daily which came up first on google before i came here.

Phoned NHS24.com who sent me info on Type 2 Diabetes.

Recently got a glucose meter on the NHS and test strips and lancets as i am on metomorfin.

Going for a retinal scan in a few weeks to check my eyes.

Diabetes is a bewildering disease with lots to learn, Doctors can be that busy, you will get more help advice from here and support too.

Best thing to do is go to the doctor tell him your feelings and you want a blood test to put your mind at rest.

Davey.

P.S Personally i would not mess about and see a doctor right away as no one will prescribe medical advice as non of of us are doctors.

Basically if you have Diabetes and want to live till your 90 in good health life style changes will have to be made.

e.g Exercise, loose weight and the hard one for me a properly controlled diet.

Another thing he could do is test your urine with a test stick to see if there is any Glucose in it.

Is there a history of Diabetes or heart disease in the family will be another question ?.

All the best.

Sounds like what I used to do, "Reactive Hypoglycemia" where your glucose will shoot up after eating, then your pancreas panics and puts out too much insulin too late and knocks your BG right down. This can be an early stage in some forms of diabetes.

I'd go to the doctor, but prepare to be fobbed off, they may only check your fasting BG which may be normal.

One thing you could do is to eat a load of carby stuff, then go to your local pharmacy after a few hours and get a spot BG reading. Gold standard would be to buy your own meter and do this

only start half an hour after eating and go out hourly to about 4 hours, then take the results to your GP. Meters are relatively cheap but the strips are expensive.

Try dropping the amount of carbs you eat, especially at breakfast: if you don't send your BG high your pancreas may not overcompensate.
