Anonymous question submitted:

I have today been to the hospital for a fasting glucose tolerance test. I am awaiting the results. After about three hours I started to have small shakes which then went worse. I had food and cup of tea and gradually came round. Is this because my blood sugar was high or low? There's so much I need to learn. My fasting blood test was 6.6 last week. Thanks if you can advise

Symptoms of high BG and low BG can be similar, which is why it is important to test your BG rather than trying to tell your BG by how you feel.

However, if you have not been diagnosed with diabetes and are not taking any medication for it, it is unlikely to be low BG causing the problem.
