As mentioned earlier this week, I went for my 6 monthly diabetes review on Friday morning
but why does the nurse never ever mention this HBA1C or whatever it's called?
I have no idea what mine is but everyone else seems to know theirs?
Is she meant to tell me?
She only mentioned my Cholestrol level result, and in fact in the five times I've been since diagnosis I have also only had my feet
tested once (six months go) so am I being looked after properly?

Yes she should tell you your HbA1c but why not ask? You should get an annual review with blood and urine tests, a foot test and an annual diabetic retinopathy eye test. If you ask they will give you a print out of your test results or you can register on line to get them.

Ask for a.printout of your test results, all of them. You need to know your HbA1c.

I don;t think your naive but I think your nurse is pretty rubbish to be honest..
Sounds like one of the you don;t need to know your results crew...
If you are in England you could try and register for your test results online then you won't need to ask for them.
Surgeries should do this but unless you ask it seems rare that they offer.

Thank you for all your replies ... I was so upset at her trying to bully me into the statins, that I didn't give any other results a thought. It's only seeing on here that most seem to know their results that got me wondering. I have my diabetic eye tests at the same practice next Wednesday, so I will ask for a printout then.

Always ask them.

My diabetic nurse never told me my numbers either. In fact, she hardly told me anything except if I was high (high in the prediabetic range) to exercise more and eat more healthily. What that meant, she also didn’t tell me...

She’s retired now. My GP quotes numbers at me all the time...!
