I had a pancreatectomy in October of last year, I was told by the surgeon that I have enough pancreas left over for digestive function and do not require Enzymes.
This has been true for at least the last 6 months but over the past month, I've been having stomach pains every single day.
It started off suddenly as intermittent stomach pain more severe than a normal stomache ache I'd say and 80% of the time it's always on the right side of the stomach, 3-5 in pain to give it a rating.
Other 10% of the time the pain is above the navel right in the center of the stomach and sometimes right below the navel bottom side of the stomach.
The weird part is sometimes the pain will last for 5 seconds and go away for a minute or sometimes longer and then I'll have another burst of 5-25 seconds of pain, that is one example.
Other times I will be in pain consistently for 3-5 hours and usually start to feel better but never a 100%, when I say usually better I mean the pain gets better but it's always a bit always there if that makes sense.
I have no other symptoms of PEI just the stomach pain, as you can understand one month is a long time, I'm somewhat able to pinpoint it to being food related but honestly several times I haven't had anything to drink or eat for 6-8 hours and the pain is still there.
I went to ER last week they did blood work, Xray and Ultrasound but no CT Scan and all came clear however these were your everyday hospital doctors who who had clue about pancreas functions and told me to contact a Pancreas Surgeon, I'm on the waiting list to speak to the surgeon unfortunately have to deal with the pain until I hear from him.
