I have a friend who is diabetic and has a one touch tester. I have not been tested by my Gp if I am diabetic or not but have been checking my levels with my friends tester.

I have 3 readings, do you think they are acceptable or should I worry. My GP is useless and unless I am diying at his feet he wont do much at best of times so need a legitimate reason to request tests etc..

Anyway.
Today: 8.8 mmol/L (ate some toast 6 hours previous, nothing else today)
Yesterday: 7.4 mmol/L (2 hours after dinner)
Day before: 6.1 mmol/L (in morning after woke up)

Hi and welcome to the forum :) We cannot tell you on here if you have diabetes - you have to go and see your doctor. If you are not happy with him why not see if you can change and find a better one?

Just for information:

The latest 2010 NICE guidelines for Bg levels are as follows:

Fasting (waking).......between 4 - 7 mmol/l........(Type 1 & 2)
2 hrs after meals......no more than 8.5 mmol/l.....( Type 2)
2hrs after meals....... no more than 9 mmol/l ......(Type 1)

finding a new doctor is easier said than done, i am post code locked so limited to what doctors i can register with and this postcode means one surgery, there are 4 doctors there but they are all totally useless. Unless you know whats wrong with you and insist you get tests for that specific problem they just tell you your imagining things.
I went with severe migranes, they just told me its in my head and stop worring about it.
in the end had to goto a&e and was in hosp for 3 days as they thought it was posibly a tumor as pain was so bad, yet doc could not even be bothered to check.

thats why was asking on here if the levels may be an issue then can insist i be tested otherwise not got a change otherwise.

I'm sorry - we cannot advise you on whether you have diabetes or not. I suggest you look at the NICE recommended levels and take more tests to confirm whether you fall within these guidelines or not. Just three tests aren't enough. When you have more information perhaps your doctor might listen. :)

I have had migraines all my life. No-one was ever really able to help me although various doctors tried. I have now found a medication that helps stop an attack - there is no point me telling you what it is as it is different for everyone and you have to carry on trying until you find one that works for you. Hopefully you can persuade your doctor to help you do this. :)

Hi it might
pay you to keep a diary of any symtoms you have been having .That way you could refer to them with your DR . :D
What made you want to test?
