Hi.. I am 4 months pregnant. I was not diabetic but when I tested last month my fasting blood sugar level is around 190 mg/dL. I am worried. And also I have a severe toothache and am planning to visit my dentist. I have heard that diabetes can affect oral health. Is it true? Also a health magazine says that during pregnancy there will be small increase in blood sugar level. So my question is am I really diabetic?

I would go see a doctor if you are concerned as they are the only people that can diagnose you

Hi. Gestational diabetes is quite common and usually fades after giving birth. Any time your blood sugar is higher than normal the chance of any infection is higher so always good to control high blood sugar. If the blood sugar stays high I would talk to the doc. In the meantime keep control of the carbs.

You may have developed gestational diabetes but the only way to know is to go to your Dr. One question though, what prompted you to test your BS in the first place.
