Got my HbA1c result back today and have managed to go from 10.6% to 7.3% in six months! I finally accept that I have diabetes and I can gain some control back. To top it all off will be getting my pump in June, all confirmed including the date!

Sorry just had to share the good news.

What was your previous hba1c? Just curious. Doctors told me mine are ok/can be tightened up but not dangerous and thats at 7.9. That seems a high reading compared to most members here.

Wow well done!

that's some serious hard work there!! you should be proud!

also great news on the pump. My HBa1c went from the 8's to the 7's then the 6's quite quick with the pump so hopefully you will have similar success!

good luck!

Hi Beav,

7.9% isn't too bad for a T1. Yes it could be tightened up, but i expect the pump will give you the ability to do just that.

Alot of peeps here have lower HBa1c's than 7.9, but some are higher too.. but remember peeps here have been diagnosed ranging from 0-40+ years! there are Type 2's controlled by diet only that have the capability to have a great HBA1c in the 5's, as well as Type 2's on oral meds or insulin. Type 1's on MDI or many on pumps. Everyone is different.

Be proud of your own HBA1c because only YOU know how hard YOU work to acheive it! :D

Hi all.
Andrea after reading your signature, am wondering with the slow onset type1 did you start of as a type2 ?
Congratulations on your latest HbA12c resullts like ebony says above it IS hard work and focus that we put in over time finally pays off. Bringing the HbA1c levels down...
Some days are hard going and it isnt easy I know...
Worth it when it all pays off and you can celebrate some great news - well done! :D
I am being allowed to run with higher BG levels as to get them lower would be too much for me.
To prevent problems with hypo's etc and keeping me safer.
My DSN has suggested that I might need other insulin therapy to help me with this. [goodness knows whats coming next?]
As despite treatment plus insulin/victoza almost 2 years now am still running with yo yoing high BG levels, eating very little due to coeliac and diverticulitis bowel diseases.
Plus like andrea an underactive thyroid too, it all contributes to a poor sluggish metabolism system.
