On Monday 3rd November, I had my 6 monthly blood tests. On Thursday 6th November my Doctor rang me at 09-55. He asked if I had let things slip a bit as my HBAc1 had gone from 50 to 58. I had to admit I had been eating whatever I wanted, including biscuits, chocolate, cakes etc. He told me that unless I get a grip he would have to change my Meds and maybe start injections. I thought this was decent of the Doctor to concern himself and call me, as I have been a Type 2 Diabetic for 10 years now and have just carried on eating whatever I wanted. My first reaction is that I didnt want injections, so I had better shape up. My normal morning readings after fasting was around 7.5 MML This morning, after not eating any cakes, biscuits etc in the previous 24 hours, it was 6.3 MMl. Later on at lunch time I tested my blood again, and it was 5.8 MMl. before eating. I couldnt believe it, and to make matters even better, I have stopped going to the toilet every hour or so, so Ive definatlely got my head on now, and even Christmas is approaching, I am not going to fall back into eating whatever I want, and I will probably lose some weight in the process. Just goes to show what a bit of serious advice and will power can do.
