Amend Travel Insurance?

Do I need to ring the travel insurance people (we use Direct Line) and tell them I've been diagnosed with T2? Will it make our rates go up? I think we currently pay around £100 for two adults to have multi-trip Europe and North America (I'm American, so trips to the US could be sudden if there's a family emergency, or we'd drop the NA coverage!). Is that good/bad?

I would inform just to be sure you are fully covered and for peace of mind.

Hey there!

Yes, you will need to tell them or they won't cover you for anything diabetes related and may null and void your insurance altgether and reject any claims. there is a good chance your insurance will go up so you might need to shop around.

Smidge

I have my travel insurance through my bank account. They have a list of conditions that have to be reported. I reported my T2, varicose veins and a hysterectomy. Was asked some questions and because there was nothing that would cause me to have extra medical attention whilst I am away, I was accepted with no extra premium to pay.

Thanks. I'm hoping since I'm not on medication, it will be the same for me. I'll ring them sometime this month (renewal is in Sept) to find out.

Mine went up at renewal even though diet only at time. But still cheaper than others who officially said "no extra" - so yes, tell them and see

Yes, let them know. My T2 is listed in my travel policy pre-conditions. As per my BUPA policy, if you have any form of diabetes they will exclude ANYTHING to do with the circulatory system etc etc so if you don't report it they can find almost any reason to say you aren't covered for a claim.
