America is a Gun

England is a cup of tea.
France, a wheel of ripened brie.
Greece, a short, squat olive tree.
America is a gun.

Brazil is football on the sand.
Argentina, Maradona's hand.
Germany, an oompah band.
America is a gun.

Holland is a wooden shoe.
Hungary, a goulash stew.
Australia, a kangaroo.
America is a gun.

Japan is a thermal spring.
Scotland is a highland fling.
Oh, better to be anything
than America as a gun.

Brian Bilston

The sad truth.

It is NOT the truth. What it is is offensive and hurtful. And you had no business to post it in jokes and humour of all places.

And, in response to Brian Bilston's lie, some truths I know to be self-evident:

America is not a gun.
America is is an immigrant
slipping past an armed guard
to have her baby here
because to be born in America
is to be a citizen.

America is not a gun.
America is music,
from delta blues to bluegrass;
the birthplace of rock and roll,
of jazz and Sacred Harp.

America is not a gun.
America is a stadium
built around a diamond
and the crack of wood on leather,
scent of Cracker Jack and hotdogs.

America is not a gun.
America is a parade
not of emperors or royal guards
but of high school bands, of flower floats;
its mounted troops civilians.

Oh, and just one more thing, @Pura Vida , since despite the poppy you've posted as your avatar you evidently have no sense at all of history, there've been some times when some of those countries named in those lines you posted were pretty dam' glad America HAD some guns.

You have a good point
I agree that it is somewhat extreme..every one is criticizing the US but millions would love to live there
