AMITRIPTYLINE

I take Amitriptyline on an almost daily basis to control cramp and provided I take them before any major exercise they work a treat. Before being prescribed this drug I took quinine for the same reason but the quinine disagreed with me although it was effective in easing cramp pains. I have not noticed any increase in blood sugar levels using either drug.

I take 20mg of Amitrytiline, been on 10 for a long time, but something is dropping my blood sugar, you all seem to be saying it's increasing yours.
However my problem has almost always been low bg 3.6 atm..

Been on the things for absolutely ages to keep me asleep when I start to stir in the wee small hours. My private thoughts are that they are another wholly unnecessary drug that is propping up the NHS. Five other family members take it, all different ages, both males and females, all for different problems, all get different results...

Same here, i have stopped taking Amitriptyline last year as well and found them doing - absolutely nothing for nerve pain.

I was given it last year for pains in my neck and clavical. Very welcomed pain killer in times of scatica at night too. I take as a pain killer like co-codamol but wondering if gp will represcribe it on friday for my pelvic and back pain. I wouldnt like to try it during the day as it relaxes everything. For a good night sleep, great pain relief.

I've taken it for about 6 years at night to relieve restless legs, not noticed any effect on my bg's but helps me sleep through the sensation of something crawling up & down my legs. If it's particularly bad during the evening I will take up to 60mg

They don't seem to help my restless legs much, I them with my evening meal, and is sat in the evening when it begins. i take them for cramps, and sleep, but due to pain I'm in I had them increased from 10 - 20mg, but I still wake severaltimes each night.
However I have a holder I put my tablets in for the week, usually on a Friday. A few week ago it got to Wednesday and I was going mad with the lack of sleep and pain, then I found out if omitted to put them into the pill tray! So they obviously do something for me.

I was on this for a while for a neurological issue - I couldn't cope with a side-effect of a very dry mouth and thirst as it mirrored my hyperglycaemia symptoms (although it didn't actually raise my blood glucose). I couldn't cope with the constant panic that I must be high - I got through more test strips in that time period than I could count.

I take 60mg Amitriptyline, 2000mg of gabapentin (which I should have increased to 2500mg) and 600mg temgesic,
Still have pain, though I can function, without them I cannot move
