Today has been a funny sort of a day. I had a load of totally unrelated work to do on the computer - and because earlier I had been looking something up with a Richard Bernstein link, I accidentally found myself listening to back 'webinars' from his website, they were absolutely amazing. But I did find myself thinking that before an awful long time, all this expertise, all this experience will be lost. Now in his 80s, he can't live forever, his mental agility and clarity can't last for ever - and 40 + years of his experience, thinking outside the box, having the courage to stand tall agains overwhelming mainstream opinion will be gone! And it's a tragedy, I know that many of you won't agree that ultra tight control of blood glucose is the only way to go, but this man's intelligence, integrity, knowledge and experience just shines through! He must have travelled such a hard road, but nobody can live for ever - not that there's any signs of him throwing in the towel just yet!

My endocrinologist saved my life, he recognised my symptoms and did the tests, without him, I would be as clueless as my GP. To what was happening to me.
He is atypical in his field, he has done and recommended tests and treatment, that are not usual in treating blood glucose disorders.
His thinking outside the box, and his scientific research has been given favourable assent, triggering more research into my condition and medication that will help future patients.
He has had a conference with other endocrinologists and health authorities outlining his findings.
The pharmaceutical company has agreed to more research in which the meds I'm on actually work, to offset the spike and therefore delay the hypo.
There has been a science paper on myself and another of his patients who has RH.
I'm patient 'A'.
I will always be thankful for what he has done for me.
