Angry Low Carb Gods.

At least you understand why...............

Bacon sandwich anyone?

I had a bacon sarnie today - loads of butter, bacon, white bread.

After two hours I was 9.2 which is my highest reading since testing.

Was good though.... :-)

How long does it take to make ketosis happen?

I have angered the low carb gods, and swift and terrible is their wrath. I had... a bacon sandwich!

Bacon sandwich, granary bread, marge, no sauce, from a caf at 8am and all hell broke loose. Rollercoaster hypers and hypos. I can say goodbye to ketosis today. This was me a few minutes ago.

Living up to your username I guess.
But a bacon buttie is almost worth it....

If you read up on the "induction phase" of the Atkins diet, that's about how to get into ketosis. How quick it is depends how strict you are. Could be a few days to a few weeks.

After I took a home OGTT ages ago-it took me about 1-2 days to show ketones again and another 1-2 days to get to +++ on the ketostix.

Are you experiencing any symptoms of 'Carb flu' whilst your body is re-entering ketosis again? I did a little bit but no-where as bad as the first time I started LCHF.

Regularly, but normally 3 rashers in one slice of bergen bread. Just can't overpower that bacon now can I
@Spiker why did you go hypo? Did you over compensate with your insulin when you went hyper?

At first I thought I wasn't having carb flu, but then I realised I was, just so mild compared to previous LC diets that I hadn't even noticed it.

I am not exactly sure why I went hypo. I think I was stacking insulin on the way down
To explain, I was stacking correction insulin doses but using the pump's Insulin On Board (IOB ) feature to try to prevent over dosing. IOB reduces the risks of stacking but it's not perfect.
