I used to have a dalmation pal named Monty - whenever he saw me he'd wave his paw at me to call me over, then he'd grab hold of my sleeve and have a good slobber on it while we had a little bit of together time. I think his owner used to time her walks with him so that they met me off the bus after work.
 
@Robbity I enjoyed your sweet story about Monty. It reminds me of my childhood friend Laddie, a Collie-Border Collie mix who lived in my neighborhood and was the son of two other neighbors' dogs.
