Just had the results for my Annual Review for Hba1C before I see consultant in about 2 wks , although I am seeing a new Diabetic Nurse on Monday 15th September at own GP Practice, they are not good 11/97. Totally puzzled & when I saw Consultant about 4 mths ago not much better 9.7/82. I only test Blood 1 x per day although Consultant asked me to do random checks over the day at last visit & these have worked out between 14.5 & 19.5. The puzzle is that my normal bloods although in most peoples eyes still a bit high I range from 6.5 to about 7.9 also strange is Cholesterol hold at 4.00 & EGEF coming down & Creatine going up. My eating habits are well within the prescribed foods.and there are No Salt/Sugar issues - Food as required is grilled or steamed and consists of Fish/Vegetables/Chicken etc - Apples/Grapes on occasions, I am at a complete loss & other half is stressed out at having to buy something different almost everyday to try & sort issues out. Consultant at last visit not for first time spoke about Insulin really not happy to inject 4 x times a day I hate needles and took me some time to cope with Byetta Injections, weight continues to drop at a slow pace and this is part of reason I am on Byetta - last result was 141 kg & currently about 137kg - Any comments would be helpful

Good day, you say you are eating the right things, but I notice immediately that you are also eating grapes (very high sugar) and apples, perhaps you should detail out your full daily meals, from breakfast to dinner and anything else and doubtless someone will be able to give an opinion.

Certainly for myself, grapes and apples unless literally 2/3 grapes and 1/4 of an apple would cause a spike.

I am only newly diagnosed mid May, so don't presume to know better.

At diagnosis 3 month BS 12.5, now with own testing averaging between 6-7.

Hi,

You say your eating habits are well within the prescribed foods, but what exactly were these prescribed foods, and who prescribed them? As John says above, if you give us a typical day's menu maybe we can spot some problem areas.

Do you test before eating and again at 2 hours?
