Well!
I let that DSN get to me and I didn't realise. Anyhoo, I went to see one of the GP's at my surgery today. I got an appointment with a locum who turned out to be a real diamond. A quietly spoken and very polite scot, she listened to my ramblings and rumblings about the DSN and her opinion of my diabetic status. I told her that I have worked extremely hard to lower my HB1Ac, weight and for Ged sake my triglycerides are 0.9. I don't want to be diabetic but I don't want to get rid of that label because of the positive effect it has had on my life. If I didn't have diabetes, I would go straight back to eating carbs.
She nodded patiently and told me of course, the original diagnosis is correct, congratulated me on my extraordinary achievement and said I may be able to control it on diet alone. I have agreed to lower my metformin to one a day and will repeat my bloods in three months.
I then told her how I'm doing it. She shrugged and told me she has known that fat does not make you fat unless the carbs are over done since qualifying 31 years ago. I whooped with joy and she escaped a smacker on the lips by a whisker! We then had a fantastic discussion about carbs and I asked her to check out this site. Whether she will or not remains to be seen, but knowing there is another doctor out there who actually reads the research and understands it has just lifted my spirits up no end.
Thank you Doc.
