Hi
My name is Katy & I'm 44 mum of 3. I have had Type2 since 2007 but despite taking tablets has never been under control. I have IBS which has been unbearable because of the tablets so i gave in & accepted Insulin yesterday. My sugars for the last 2 weeks have been running at between 15-17, i have been exhausted, frightened at the prospect of Insulin & burst into tears at work this week because i felt so poorly.

I hope to meet some new & informative friends here.

Katy

Hi Katy.
Welcome to the forum. Have a good look around and when you are up to it ask your questions. We aim to give the best advice and support we can.

Hope things now start to improve for you. All the best.

Ken.

Awwww katy, I just answered your other post 'just started on insulin' - dont despair, you have every chance to become healthier again, people in the forum will do their best to help you along, and even though you are frightened at the moment, you might not even need to stay on insulin, I know a few diabetics who managed to stop insulin and use other methods, diet control, to reduce their bg and gradually reduce medication more and more, that is actually what I did. and that is why I asked you what you have been eating since your diagnosis?

Of course you would burst into tears, you are stressed, you have responsibilities, you have children to take care of and a job on top of it all, so quite a heavy workload, I bet you dont have time to get bored ever, huh? its good that you can come here and talk about things a bit, because stress will raise your bg too and then in turn you will be more stress, its a viscious circle.

There is loads of info in here katy, you might just learn a few new tricks here and there and improve things.

Big comforting hug for you x

ih i am new to this site and i have had the condition for nearly 12yrs it can be very upsetting, as i have type 1 diabetes and have never been able to control it you do every thing they tell you and it feels like you are banging your head against a brick wall because what ever you do it never works out.you just keep ploding on and when you have a good day it is like hitting the jack pot, you will move on and i know what it feels like and i have bad days but you are not a lone. take care take one day at a time :)

Hi moggy.
Welcome to the forum. Have a good look around and when you are ready ask questions. We will try to help and support you.

Take a look around the Diabetes Type 1 section along with the success stories threads. There are many T1's who have taken control of their Diabetes and are continually striving for even better control. This site in particular doesn't go with conventional thinking. Instead, Diabetic's go their own way after getting information and advice from here. We know it works.

Hi Moggy
You say you do everything they tell you and still don't get control. this isn't a rare happening. Try looking through here for examples of things that DO work. they've been proven by diabetics, not recommended by Healthcare professionals who learned I all from books. Try the "success stories" thread.
The medics often think patients are non-compliant and/or lying, when their treatment doesn't work. They don't stop to think it's the advice that's not right for that patient.
Most of the contributors to this forum have personal experience of diabetes.
