Hi everyone. My name is Spike, I'm 51 and was informed that I was Type 2 diabetic on my 51st birthday as a result of a pre knee operation assessment. My initial BG reading was 23.7, apparently high? This is all new to me so any advice is more than welcome.

Hi and welcome. I'll tag Daisy @daisy who will provide more info for newbies. Diet is the key and for most this means keeping the carbs down and having proteins and fats as well as veg. Yes, that blood sugar reading is quite high. I'm sure the GP will start you on Metformin shortly - a good safe drug. It doesn't work miracles but helps. Can you let us know your BMI and whether it has varied recently.
