Hi all.
I was diagnosed in early November 2008 when I went to the Doctors with a headache which had lasted for over a week and also an insatiable thirst. I had a BG reading of 26 and ketones in my urine sample.
Off to the hospital for a weekend of blood tests and I. V.
They were not sure if I was type 1 or 2, so for the first few weeks I was on Insulin and Metformin.
In the following 2 monthsI was able to lose 16 pounds in weight and come off the insulin and was confirmed as Type 2.
I am now on 1 Metformin and my levels are coming down. I am awaiting my HBa1c.
My fasting readings are between 6.1 and 6.8 and I read on this site that readings in this range may constitute IFG (Impaired Fasting Glucose).
Does this mean that I may be able to retrieve the situation or is it inevitable that the condition will worsen. Also if it is IFG should I be on Metformin.
I have increased my exercise considerably and either walk swim or cycle daily.
I need to lose a further stone in weight but despite my best efforts with both diet and exercise I have not been able to shift any more weight during the last 4 weeks. I have also tried to bring down my fasting levels but whether I eat before bed or not, sometimes I go to bed with a BG of less than 6 but my body stores seem to kick in and i am 6.8 in the morning. Any advice would be great.
Regards
