Hello,

Me again. I need help!! I cant seem to lose any weight!! And I cant really do as much exercise due to having scoliosis and sciatica and being in soo much pain! :( help?! or am i just being stupid :/

Hi, No! not being stupid (thats my job) weight loss has little to do with exercise in my opinion, weight loss as someone recently remarked on here, starts in the kitchen, how is your diet? what method are you trying to lose weight with? whichever it is there will be someone here that has tried it and succeeded and someone here that tried it and failed hehe, what are you trying?

Basilcally trying to cut down on all the junk and trying to eat a bit more healthier but I just end up getting so hungry :( so maybe that's where I am going wrong!

yes, hunger i believe is a state of mind, for me i wasn't satisfied unless i was in pain, every meal had to make me fit to burst, i think its like training your body to be happy with less, which does take time, have you tried making a food diary on a smart phone with an app like my fitness pal? it will show you just how much you are eating with calorie breakdowns etc, you put in your weight height preferred weight loss etc and it predicts how much weight you will lose if you reduce your calories to a certain amount, you can eat too little too and this will show you which way your going, this may help, other than that just keep going! sometimes the weight loss comes and goes, try not to get disheartened, when the weight isn't shifting look at it as a positive that it isn't going on either and you just have to wait for your diet to start doing its thing, best of luck

Maybe the more healthier stuff is still in too larger quantity? If you cut out all processed food first, its a big step. Then you could look at the healthy fresh stuff. You don't have to do everything at once ,little steps can add up. Cutting out junk is a major step forward. Best of luck. :)

Don't forget it isn't weight you want to lose but fat, get the tape measure out every couple of weeks, and you'ff probably be suprised, even if you're not losing weight you could well be losing cms (or inches in old money) 1kg of fat has a larger area than 1 kg of muscle.

Since vastly reducing my carbs (to about 100g a day, give or take) and not eating sugar at all I have lost getting on for 3 stones now. I think being on Metformin has helped though by reducing my appetite. I want to lose another 1 stone and 5lbs to be at my ideal BMI though. But I think reducing carbs and not having sugar have done it for me, I never realised how much I was eating! It's surprising how refined carbs creep into our diet without us realising .

Hi,

There's lots on here about reducing weight, without at the same time going too hungry. I found that cutting out all sugar, where I could, together with rice, pasta, white bread, cakes and mashed potato - and all the processed foods you referred to in your OP - meant I started to lose weight. OTOH, I kept eating some others, like porridge and wholemeal bread, but in strict moderation

I also found I could substitute reasonably bulky foods - like mashed celeriac, cauliflower, swede and lots of green vegetables (mashed sprouts with flaked almonds and cream is now a favourite, lol!) - in order not to go too hungry. I drank quite a bit more water during the day (zero calories, fills you up and has other health benefits too).

The effect of that, and some reductions in drinking beer :( meant the weight started to go and I was sometimes losing as much as 4lb/week. I'm afraid I did precious little exercise, partly because I tell myself I haven't got time, but mainly because I find it boring, so I can honestly say my weight loss has been down to diet.

The one thing that really surprised me though is that, as the weight came off, my appetite fell. If you look at other posts, that isn't unusual, and it sure helps when you're struggling with it all.

Good luck, and let us all know how you get on.
