I am pleased to read of the success stories on here so thought you’d like to hear about mine.
I was diagnosed with type 2 about 16 years ago. It came out of the blue after a blood test. My brother had it but no other family member. I’ve never eaten a lot of sugar in my whole life. I was referred to an NHS dietician who put me on a low fat high carb regime. You can guess the result.
My meds were increased and my weight increased. About 2 years ago my wonderful diabetes nurse put me on a semaglutide with a once a week injection. She said it would help my blood glucose and help with my weight. With her approval I put myself on a low carb diet. Fast forward a while. I have lost 5 stone and my dress size has gone from a size 22 to a 14. I haven‘t been that size since I left University in the 70s! Best of all my blood glucose is in the “normal” range and my GP declared I was in remission. He was practically dancing around his office.
I was taken off the semaglutide 3 months ago but, fingers crossed, haven’t put any weight on. I am finding walking so much easier and am swimming again. Best of all when when I look in a full length mirror I LOVE what I see.
The only downside was, after giving most of my clothes to charity, I had to buy a new wardrobe. Thank god for eBay and charity shops. Sorry for the length but when you have a lovely story to post it’s difficult to stop.
