Well done, @jessj.
Keep posting, and keep up the good work. Keep testing, too. Next HbA1c will give indication of what is going on. If it turns out that you will benefit from having Metformin again, that is still a success story.
Very well done @jessj and perhaps your body just needs time to adjust. Great numbers !Thanks to this forum & you great people, my latest HbA1c result was 38.
So from T2 diagnosis my figures have been 91, 43, 36, 38, 38, 41, 38.
My GP & DN are very happy, as am I. I was also on Metformin SR, 500mg x 2, one of the lucky folk to have never had side effects, so never really minded taking them. After this last result, GP has now taken me off Metformin for a 3 month trial. Which is good in one way, but...my FBG are now showing 7s, some 8s & even a 9.This is just in the last couple of weeks, the first 4 days after stopping were my norm, then the rise. My diet hasn't changed at all, so it seems the Metformin was doing some good. The next couple of months or so are going to be interesting to see if my body will level it out.
Again, thank you very much, as without you all, I wouldn't have taken on the low carb way of life & taken such good control.
Well done. Amazing Hba1c control. You just diet control and metformin? You mention your morning numbers now, what were they with metformin? Also pre meal and after meal numbers have they changed after coming off metformin? Thanks to this forum & you great people, my latest HbA1c result was 38.

Thank you, @0110! It has been low carb with Metformin. My numbers have been within a range of 5 - 6.6, with a few lower & higher, taken morning, before dinner & 2hrs after. Now, across them they are frightening, not had a 5 high or low, some 6s, but mainly 7s going up the scale.Well done. Amazing Hba1c control. You just diet control and metformin? Thank you for that, @ianf0ster, I knew that it would change things, just not really by how much, now I know. Your good news is very welcome, did think/hope that things should settle to a norm, so, very pleased to read that FBG tends to be last.Hi @jessj yes, the rise in FBG figures not immediately following stopping taking Metformin makes sense. Metformin builds up in the body before it starts to show an effect, also it's main effect is on reducing the amount of glucose that the liver dumps - so can most readily be seen in FBG figures due to DP or FOTF.
However the good news is that for those low carbing but not on Metformin, FBG tends to be the last figure to drop, but drop it does (eventually). My FBG can still occasionally be as high as 7.5 (it used to be as high a 8.0 before remission) and have been in remission (non-diabetic HbA1C) for nearly 3yrs now!
I would stick stick to it see what your HBAC1 is without metformin. You can always go back to it if need be I suppose. Metformin makes a difference then, I like to think I have it in my armoury as I am 3 months in diet controlled.Thank you, @0110! It has been low carb with Metformin. Well done, Great achievementHaven't been around for a while, but just to say, had my HbA1c result yesterday & it came out at 42, which I was surprised about, but also quite happy. My GP was happy & said keep doing what I'm doing & not to go back on the Metformin. At least, yes, it's there if ever I need to go back. Low carb is definitely the way to go though, so once again, my thanks to all of you.
ETA: Forgot to say, the last 5 days of testing, average has been 6.5, hoping this downward trend continues so my next HbA1c, in 6 months is back down under 40.
