Anxiety, dizziness etc

Hi all,

Newly diagnosed last week but have been experiencing a bit of dizziness for about 2 weeks while I was having tests / waiting for results. Not all the time but quite often when I change my field of vision or move my head, e.g when looking from computer screen to something further away. A few years ago I suffered anxiety attacks almost constantly for 7 weeks and constant dizziness was one of the worst features, hence I get very worried whenever I have a brief dizzy spell. They usually only last for a few seconds but I'm wondering if dizziness has been in anyone else's experience? I should mention that at first I was very matter of fact about having diabetes but later crashed. Now I seem to think about it all the time and I find the horror stories hard to avoid because they seem to be everywhere! I'm fairly sure the dizziness is attributable to general anxiety over being diagnosed but would appreciate any reassurance..........
 
I can understand anxiety resulting from the diagnosis and we all react differently. The horror stories you are aware of happen when diabetes treatment is ignored and if blood sugar is well-managed there should be no horror story. I can only suggest you may need some help with the anxiety attacks. There are various charities that can help. I'm aware of Mind, the mental health charity, from the volunteer work I do and there may be other organisations that can help. If the anxiety persist do get your GP to refer you or contact a charity directly.
 
hi charlotte i am having the same as you i feel dizzy when i move my head i am wakeing up in the night and its always on my mind i have been told by doctor that my blood sugars are very good 5.2 to 6.1 but i am worried my eyes keep going blurred seems like im in a daze then im ok i to used to have panic attacks some years ago i am type 2
 
Panic attacks & anxiety hitting me hard too. Apparently is normal post diagnosis.
It doesn't get better

You afe bound to be feeling the way you are describing because your whole world was turned upside especially the thing we try to enjoy... Work..
I wish there was an alternative way for you to keep enjoying the work that you did pre diagnosis. That would enable you to live better and without hiding your life.. Which isnt good..

I saved 77 lives since diagnosis.
Cant save my own.
My dream is of eternal sleep. Peace, my life before this.
I feel.like a criminal now
 
If you are duffering panic attacks, anxiety and depression then your GP should be signing you off sick, as at some point you are not going to be anle to carry on.
I admire the qty of lives you say you have saved since diagnosis, however it is time to really think how you can positively live yours.
Diagnosis of T1 is a shock and especially with job that you had etc... However, I have to ask, seriously, what are you doing to help yourself to live your lidlfe. Diagnosis of T1 is not a life ending disease, its a disease that makes you balance your life and to adjust, but it makes us much better prople for the future. I would never have been as I am now if I hadnt have been diagnosed T1 30 years ago.. I was a hard nosed b****h to be honest.. I am glad I had my diagnosis. I am a better person because of it.
You really need to talk to an advisory centre like the Citizens Advice etc...

I came on this site to look for the experience of othrrs and perhaps some answers too.

I know this wont end well for me. I gave up a while ago.
 
Its not easy but you have had a complete loss of job too so makes it worse for you.
There isnt an easy solution for your circumstances, but there is still opportunities for you that need to be discovered. Don't give up...

Bet those 77 people's families are grateful! Forgive my ignorance but are there certain jobs which we are barred from doing? Is it dependant on type?
 
T1's cant be Airline Pilots and it also used to be Police Officers. Police Officers, I'm not sure about nowadays.

Like Scandichic says -the families and relatives of the 77 must be grateful.. And I would be grateful to hear that you are considering finding out if there are countries without such strict T1 paramedic rules that you could think about, then you could be more open and not feel like a criminal..

I did my best for every patient, but now i feel i wasted my time.
The Dr sent me over the precipice; i felt i may have been able to deal with this overwise.
I feel hopeless and despairing.

Might have been a mistake for me to join this site?
Think i'd better delete my profile and remain out of sight?

You need to find a country though with less stringent T1 paramedic rules, surely? (If there are any), but it has to be worth looking at, rather than just hiding who and what you are.... You are an individual with an illness that needs care to manage. You know you will need to have your feet checked and your eyes screened annually.
It sounds like you had really bad NHS treatment but that experience will make you stronger... And please recognise that there are more pleasant people out there...
