Im not out to seek attention. just thought id put it out there n get it of my chest. ps im not tge best at explaning things

Hey stuarty12

Depression is a c**p thing to have but the people on this forum care about you and are very interested in how you are doing. I see you are Type 1 so you need to take your insulin.

Please take care and come and chat whenever you need to. Someone here will always be on hand to help.

Hy Stuarty12,

I'm not diabetic but I'm sincerly impressed by all this stories I read about you diabetics getting going in life despite your ilness!! It's a lesson for some of us who are always complaining about this and that. Keep it up!!

It is up to you if you want to take your insulin or not but do you realise that this will make you ill? Is that good for you? Perhaps your family think you are coping well with your diabetes? Do they undertsand it? Have you expressed your feelings to them about how you are feeling about it?

I am not going to be 'nice' to you as there are plenty of other people on here who will have different ways of approaching this dilemma that you are experiencing at the moment.

It is at the end of the day YOUR life that you are dealing with.

Suarty I thik that people are afraid of illness. I know what you mean though. You don't want pity but you would occasionally like some recognition of the fact that you are coping with a difficult condition.

The truth is that they WANT you to be well so as not to make THEM uncomfortable. I thik you know this and are subconsciously trying to get them to pay you and your condition some eattention.

perfectly understandable - none of us like being taken for granted in any way.

My family do that to me. They seem to think that because i am not completely blind the daily struggle I have with my eyesight is nothing much. Although they know I am forever at the hospital having procedures to preserve my sight that in-between times I can manage perfectly well and are amazed that I sometimes have to ask for help. Indeed they often quote how others they know have had similar problems and are now fine. You would think that after 5 years they would realise I am not in that class!

You are probably one of those "coping " people. As ishjohno says by not taking your insulin you are only hurting yourself . You may also end up with complications and as you obviously appear to be a strong person you will the find yourself coping with more problems - maybe again with no recognition.

Perhaps you could talk to them and tell them how you feel? Or print out your post and show it to them so hey will undersand how desperate you feel? I fear that not taking your insulin will only make you more depressed. Maybe you could just speak to one person and get them to speak to the others.?

They may be more aware than you think but believe that you prefer not to talk about it.

Stuarty,

The fact that your family don't ask doesn't mean they don't care, my family never ask how my diabetes control is but I know they care just the same, as we look no different to the next person and live life just as well as anyone can....it is often placed at the back of their minds how we might/might not be coping.

Please don't stop your insulin and ask for help from your gp about your depression.

Best wishes!
