Am still on the quest to stop hubby being so depressed. He used to love a wee biscuit with his cup of tea but we had cut that down to the odd digestive. Now he wants to get his BG still lower and has stopped the biscuits and is just plain miserable (and moany!) Are there any biscuits or home made treats he could have ? he is type 2 diet-controlled, relatively good BG and slightly underweight.

Coconut? Melt 50 grams of butter, let it cool. Whip 2 eggs with sweetener of choice to the equivalent of 75 ml of sugar (or a bit more), add butter and 200 grams of dessicated, unsweetened coconut. Mix. Makes 30-35. Oven 200-225 C for ten minutes.

Had a wee look and yes I think i could cope wi them lol. Thank you xx

He hates coconut Totto but many thanks for help :)

Hi @fumanchu ! I like a biscuit or two with a cup of tea. When I went on the DESMOND course they gave us Rich Tea biscuits, which are probably the lowest carb commercially produced biscuits available. They have 5.5g of carbohydrates (incl 1.6g of sugar) per biscuit.
@ewelina has a blog with recipes for low carb/sugar baking including some recipes for biscuits. I can recommend the peanut butter cookies which taste great and were easy to make, even for someone like me who had never baked before.

There are these sugar free biscuits and the blue packets you can often find in the £1 shops and Family Bargains if you have one. Of course it depends if your husband can eat wheat at all.

I tried Simpkins sugar free ginger biscuits I bought from a local health food shop. But apart from being more expensive than 'ordinary' biscuits they contained twice as many carbohydrates as the Rich Tea biscuits. And they didn't taste good. :(

Hi. I haven't got time to bake everything, as much as I'd like to. Most working people are too busy these days, unfortunately. It's nice to have a biccy with a cuppa. So I understand your need to have a couple with a hot drink. Like everything in life, the trick is to be able to stop at a sensible amount & not eat the pack. Which I'm guilty of in the past I must admit. But being diabetic does bring changes, & like it or not, reducing carbs & sugar intake is a must! Simple as that really. But, you'll know that already. I buy Morning Coffee biscuits & Rich Tea Fingers. Both around 3.0 to 3.5g of Carbs. Mcvities Thin Arrowroot & Marie biscuits are 5ish grams of carbs, and my particular favourites, Bahlsen Delobra, which i get from Tesco. They are around 4.2g carbs. No pound shops or Home Bargains near, I rely on online shopping from asda or sainsbugs - but I have written all these down. I'm very grateful thank you everybody. You might have saved me from a messy divorce lol

I forgot to mention, the sugar free biscuits used Xylitol as a sweetener. This is poisonous to dogs so you shouldn't have it in the house if you have a dog.

Probably best not to have Xylitol in the house if you have a cat too, though cats don't eat everything like dogs.
