Hi All

Me again!!
Do any foods seem to take longer to have an effect on your BS levels?
I have found certain food seems to take 3-4 hours to raise my BS level, and obviously if my BS was quite low, around 5, then I take my fast acting I am dropping into hypo before the carbs in my meal take effect
Anybody else finding this too?
Any foods that are best to be avoided?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Foods like pulses that are low-gi can take longer to digest and lead to postprandial hypo's if you bolus up front, also meals that are high in protein and fat can lead to high bg several hours after eating, you don't have to avoid them though, you just need to know how to bolus for them, you can only do that by trial & error.

Quavers crisps! guaranteed hypo if you shoot up because they have 10.2g of carbs in each packet but they do zilch to you BS because they're just cheesy fresh air so must be super low on the GI scale. Feels cheeky being able to have a wee snack and not take anything for it ;)
