Hi managed to check ketones through a urine stick, my sister has them as she's a nurse associate. Walking sounds a good idea but like I said I dont leave the house alot now, as before I used to get panic and anxiety attacks going out so stopped doing it, now as i feel so unwell all the time I don't do next to nothing, sugars at 21 still today, had 4 units of insulin at dinner but started coming down fast again and ended up having around 80 grams of carbs and it's around the same so In a way it's good it would of come down if I didn't have extra carbs but it's not put it up either, and when it does come down it comes down really fast IE 10mmol sometimes in 30 minutes and I dont know when it's going to stop crashing so reluctant to let it get to normal ranges when it crashes so fast and I don't know why, and as I live on my own I probably do correct alot earlier than I should. But this doesn't happen every time so I am just lost at the minute. IAM doing my nova rapid and just sitting here scanning on libre and checking sugars waiting and praying for the 3 hours are up as I know after around 3 hours the insulin in my system won't have a huge effect untill I have another one. Then IE last night had another 3 correctional doses of 2/3 units and it didn't do alot, but I don't want to give more than 2/3 units correctional dose at a time as sometimes when it does work it can cause the fast crashing again. Just fed up now, looked at some photos a year or so ago when I was even drinking and smoking and looked healthier, lost loads of weight, colour and feel horrible all the time, you try ringing 111 for anything they just say to go to as, just get up each
morning and scrape through the day then go to bed as around 7 tonight it's an awful existence. Oh well soone be dinner time let the roller coaster begin again

Hey dont be do discouraged I know it's easier said than done. I was in your shoes not too long ago. Only thing that helped me is staying active and long walk as I suggested earlier. In the beginning your anxiety will get the best of you but be persistent and at least make a schedule and try to get a walking routine starting at least 3 days a week and 6000 steps. That's only 30 to 40 mins of walk. As the time goes by you should start feeling better about your self as you will not be confined to the four walls of your house. Extras fresh oxygen does wonders to thr body. Just need to be little patient.

Also of I were I would invest in miaomio or other similar device that attaches to your libre. It will keep sending readings to your phone every 5 mins and you can set an alarm at 7.5 or 8 that would alert you if your going down fast. This would take a lot of anxiety out as you won't need to keep checking like 80 times a day.

Going out of the house regularly is the first thing I would do. It helped me a lot. Things will get better just keep trying and dont lose hope.

Walking sounds a good idea but like I said I dont leave the house alot n
Walking doesn't have to be outside. Second hand running or stepper machines are quite cheap, and you don't have to run!
My son loves watching his videos when on his cycling machine

Don't want to overcomplicate things, but are these fast drops that you're seeing on your Libre and only your Libre? Because I can tell you from experience if my levels get super high and I scan my Libre whilst it's dropping the Libre vastly overestimates the size of the drop. There's two ways to counteract this, wait fifteen minutes and scan again, if the Libre overestimated a lot of times it will have readjusted after 15 minutes giving you a more realistic number or checking with a finger prick (the second option I would say is the best option).

Hi I do panic ABIT when it drops, it mainly happens in the afternoon I am not sure if the levimir I have in two doses 7.30 morning and at night is overlapping, the morning and evening don't seem as bad, iam also on alot of medication for my eye as I've had several operations and struggle with the pressure and the diabetes specialist seems to think alot of these medications are effecting it as well, she is going to have a word with the consultant and I should have an appointment soon, being aware of all the latest devices would be a start, someone said about a.mioa mioa thing that you can put on your libre to make it a cgm, a pump would sound ideal but they did say could be a two year wait but she could ask the consultant to step in. I've done the Dafne course years ago I count carbs etc, I just haven't a clue what's happening with it all. I probably do get hungry now in the mid teens etc as it's in the 20s alot, having another eye op in around a week and said if this works I may be able to get off alot of the medication, I was just used to having humilin M3 twice a day for years but as I got older the control got worse and realised that this regime is outdated compared to what's out there. I've heard of other insulins like tresiba I think and fiasp etc but I think I would benefit alot from a pump, at the minute iam putting all carbs I eat and every injection I have into the libre so she can show the consultant soon. Thanks for the replies

Hi @DannyH I'm really sorry to hear what you're going through at the moment it sounds really tough and if you're anything like me the high BG alone must be making you anxious.

You probably know all of this already but just in case re

I dont know when it's going to stop crashing

If you're concerned about how much further your BG will fall the trend arrow might help. They are an indication of where your BG will be in the future (not how fast it has been moving). As a rule of thumb a vertical down arrow is indicating -1.5 mol/L in 15 min/ -3.0 mmol/L in 30 mins, a diagonal down is -0.9 t0 -1.5 mol/L in 15 mins time (-1.8 to -3 mol/L in 30 mins).

Obviously we're all different so that might not be right for you but nonetheless keeping an eye on the arrows over time might give you a sense of where you're heading and therefore whether or not you need to correct.

Hi Danny, I feel you mate. My partner has had a libre for a couple of months now and I feel like we are still getting used to it. It exposes the high glucose levels and it sucks when they stay so high. To bring them down he walks a lot (we are in a very hilly area so it can be strenuous if needed :) ) but when we are indoors he does planks, which are less effective. Stress brings your levels up so I have learned, so it feels a bit like a vicious circle. Take care

Hi thanks for replies, yep it's pure hit and miss at the moment, I know exercise would benefit me loads but at the minute I am too exhausted all the time to do much, also have had severe panic attacks and anxiety.over many years just struggle now in general, not been at work in over 15 years and sort of fell through the cracks and avoided more and more as the years have gone by. As before when it does come down its fast, so been trying to eat less carbs and less insulin but just making me feel rubbish, I suppose I should be alot more positive and clued up after 31 years of it, just really struggling at the minute and I know there is new technology out there, and iam not blaming anyone but the services people can access are different in different areas etc. But last night had a few correctional doses every few hours maybe 2/3 units at a time and it didn't touch it, then sometimes I've had a few units in the day and it comes down fast, so Iam not sleeping either, Iam on all sorts of stuff to keep my eye in a stable condition while have another op next week, but think the medication iam on is impacting my diabetes and makes me feel awful most of the day, but at the minute it's giving me the best outcome for my eye and eventually I may come off alot of the medication, so I am also abit reluctant to change insulin again, when I come off alot of the stuff Iam on things might improve abit. I only ever took paracetamol rarely. Just trying everything don't drink, smoke gave up coffee over 6 months ago, eat more fish etc and vary my diet, trying all sorts, I am seeing a diabetes specialist and she's arranging to see a consultant. Iam at hospital appointments either diabetes or to see the eye specialists. Keeping all appointments very regular, just hoping I get a breakthrough somewhere soon. To say it's been tough is an understatement but I also know alot of us go through battles daily so I know I'm not alone. And I know people are trying to be helpful. So once again thank you. Ps I never used to talk like this or ask anyone for help but life has a way to make you humble, so have a nice day, look after yourself thanks Dan x
