I've been testing less than a week and I just want to check that I am doing it right and if not what is the effect on the reading likely to be.

In not all the tests I've done has the channel been completely red with blood and certainly not the little bar at the top of the channel.

The booklet suggestgs 900 nl is enough of a blob to use and I reckon my blobs are way bigger than that. The device beeps as soon as the bottom of the strip hits the blob and starts to count down. The booklet suggests not to press into the skin but allow the capillary action to do it....

I just not sure if I'm doing it right.

Cheers

Sounds about right but in the past I have had some failures. To have fewer failures I try to make sure that the blob of blood is larger than when using my other meter. Also, since a "shovelling up the blood" type if action is required I place the tip of the strip near the blood and then slowly shovel it through the blood spot.

I think maybe a bit smaller blob would be better sometimes if you flood the strip it does not work properly
