Hubby’s got a bad cold and chest he’s been up all night coughing but he coughed up some red blood in the night just the once he’s in bed now feeling aching and coughing any idea what could have caused the blood?

It's impossible to say but you must get him to the GP to check

I would be phoning the paramedics if I was coughing up blood...

We cannot diagnose here, so I can only suggest you get him seen by a dr sooner rather than later. Let us know how he gets on.
