I was away all weekend visiting family. It was tricky eating out but I managed to maintain decent levels between 5-6. On the way home we stopped at MIL who gave us pea soup. I knew it would be a no-no but I was polite and ate half. On returning home I tested at 8.6!!! Not happy. Anyway for the last two days I have been between 7.2 and 8.7. What is happening? Yesterday I was so good and carbs were as low as humanly possible. Today my levels are still 8.2. I’m drinking but not as much exercise for two days. Could this make such a difference? Even the week after diagnosis my levels weren’t this high. Any words of wisdom please. Getting worried as it’s been high for two days rather than just a spike. X. Type 2 no meds

Could be filled glycogen stores. Some of us find a ‘treat’ or off diet meal can keep bs higher for a few days. It should drop to normal eothing 3-4 days.

Changing your exercise levels can make a massive difference. Maybe try going back up to normal exercise levels - as long as you feel OK, the start of an infection can push up your BG. Your levels aren't too bad, don't panic, sure you'll soon get a handle on it.

Thanks. The lack of exercise was no intention. The outlaws like to do a lot of sitting around. Got in trouble trying to move and walk around so loaded the dishwasher! Spent a lot of time in the car too. Went to the gym today and levels still high after. Hopefully when I get back in my routine it will all settle down. Hard at the moment during school holidays to get the type of exercise I like. Wish me luck!

Just read online that your period can affect blood sugar levels. For some it goes high during your period, others low and for some it goes higher a few days before - the latter one may be the cause. Anyone else experienced this and if so, how did it affect you?
Edited to add - just looked back at last months readings which blows that theory :(

Just a heads up - hormone levels can vary widely from month to month so I wouldn't rule it out completely. Having said that, changes in routine, diet & stress levels are also players so it could be a combination of all of the above!

Stress can increase BG. A weekend with my extended family can leave me wound up for a fortnight.

Yes my MIL can do that to me! Husband annoyed with me after visiting them so that is stressing me.
