Hi, I`m type 2, 4x500mg metformin per day and I was recently taken off gliclazide and my follow up hba1c was 6.6. Didn`t check my waking level but it is usually quite high, about 8. I just wondered if there was anything particularly bad about those foods. What type of diabetes do you have? Are you on medications? What was your waking level?
Ok ta, just been out for a brisk walk to see if that will bring the ******* down, will test again in about 20 mins. The foods shouldn't have caused high readings. I'm type 1 on insulin so don't really know about your meds - hopefully someone will be along who can offer advise.
Hi chris5, nothing wrong with your food, but sometimes when our livers realise our bodies are doing something that requires more energy...we get a release of glucose , plus whatever you ate the previous day if it was carby will also have its effectHi, all I`ve eaten today is 1 boiled egg (8 am) and about 50g of Italian cured ham (11 am) and at 2.15 my bg was 9.6. Does anybody have any idea what could cause this level?
Hi, I don`t think I ever eat anything particularly carby nowadays to be honest. I`m a bit puzzled as to why I seem to get a lot of high readings when my latest hba!c (Thursday) was 6.6. I know this needs to come down but it`s the first one I`ve had since coming off gliclazide and I was worried it would be a lot higher.Hi chris5, nothing wrong with your food, but sometimes when our livers realise our bodies are doing something that requires more energy...we get a release of glucose , plus whatever you ate the previous day if it was carby will also have its effect
Thanks, I just tested again and got 7.3 so they`re going in the right direction at least!I think your body's adjusting without the glicazide. It may take a few days to get to your hba1c levels. Just keep low carbing and get your fat levels ok. Everyone goes through this form of high levels when reducing g your meds. Let us know how you are doing.
