any problem wit GPs ??!!

Hi every one, I've been diabetes for seven years ,and I came to England three months ago ,I am quiet new for the UK's system.
My GP separate the prescriptions into Parts and Give me apart Every time and I Have Everytime To Return To Him And Ask him to Check The Priscriptions He Gave Me and tell me every time come In 3 Days come in a week ,etc... and now I can't get all my requirements once a month I have to go in different times to receive insulin,lancets,etc.. My sister is also diabetes and we almost take the same needs ,he sometimes write things in my prescriptions which are not in hers.
Ahhh! And the first time I went there with My sister and father the doctor told me "I don't know any thing about diabetes in children and don't ask me about anything cause I don't know ,I will just make prescriptions" and even prescriptions he write it wrong :banghead:.
One time he wrote for my sister refill pen without cartages ,and she is taking flexpen "disposal":***::***::mad::confused:!!
I want to know also if the prescriptions have expiry date because the pharmacist said I can't wait to receive. All in one time because they have early and different dates
Is That Normal ??Did it happen with anyone else ??

This doesn't sound right at all. If you feel unsure, go to another GP, you don't have to stay with the same one, you can just walk into another practice and ask to register with them. It may be better for you to find one of the big practices where there are several doctors as you are more likely to find one that knows about diabetes. Sue xxx
 
Possibly, as you say you are new to the UK system, the GP will be prescribing different medications as he is treating you, and he may also have different guidelines, and practice rules over treatment.
He would then like to check the effects of the medication over a period of time, and adjust as required.

As for admitting he doesn't know how to treat diabetes in children, that is reasonable enough, providing he then referred the patient to a specialist who does.
I would much rather be treated by someone who knows his imitations, and be referred along to the specialists, then have someone refuse to admit it, and take a guess.
 
Personally I would be asking to speak to the practice manager about this! If you are having to get 3 separate repeating prescriptions per month then it is costing the NHS, as well as the cost of the medicines, three prescribing fees to the pharmacist as opposed to the one prescribing fee that would be paid if the prescriptions are prescribed together!
As well there is the cost in time & effort to both you and the practice of getting the prescriptions made out!
 
I think I'll move to an another GP ,but I am afraid that I may find the other one like that :***::hungover:

Actually he doesn't give me the same prescription three time a month ,eg.if I Have to Take ten Things He Give Me 3 then I Tell Him I have To Take 10 He tell Me Come Again to collect the rest,etc..,and I am sure if he complete in that way I will forget what did I get from him and what did I get from the pharmacy

Sorry what I meant was if you have repeats on drugs A, B,C then have to go in for repeats on drugs D,E,F next week, then have to go in the following week for lancets, needles and insulin, he wopuld cut prescribing costs by issuing one prescription for drugs A,B,C,D,E,F,lancets,needles and insulin,

As you are 14 years old then I would get your parents to see the Practice Manager and sort out all your problems with prescriptions.
Do you see a Consultant and /or a DSN? They can write to your G.P. about any issues you are having.

A Practice Manager is a person who oversees the smooth running of the surgery.
 
As you say you have only been in the UK system three months, and without knowing any other details, especially if your medical records are in the UK, If you are on ten different drugs, you may find it unlikely any UK GP would simply begin to prescribe all ten initially without any further thoughs.
Even if you swop to another practice, they may believe your medication would not be the same under NICE guidelines, they may believe there could be a better treatment,
They may be considering taking you off some drugs, changing does, checking for inter-reactions,

Or indeed, they may be useless.

Really, you should be referred to a diabetes clinic for correct management.

Its not really ten drugs ad some of them are lancets,needles,and other non drugs
I only take 2 drugs (luntos ,novo rapid)

I have a diabetes nurse And a consultant
When We told them about the GP they said I don't need any thing from him except the prescription and if I had any problem
I can go to the hospital directly
 
They will and should, only give you what is due. Your repeat slip will tell you what you last ordered and when. How can you forget what you did get? You should have it at home.

In that case get your DSN/Consultant to contact your GP & request they allign the prescription dates on your prescription items !
 
Is there an expiry date for getting my prescription
