Type of diabetes
Type 2
My name is Carol, I am 60yrs old, been type 2 for 10yrs, recently gone on insulin. I work in a local Spar shop, my question is are any of you still working or isolating from coronavirus. My employer or shall I say my collegues say I should isolate, as they say I am vunerable of catching this virus. The government suggest we work the 2m rule, which our store has put in place, my job is till work, no shop floor work. Thankyou for reading my post, any advice will be very grateful.

It depends on your employer, the government advice is that you don't need to isolate with diabetes. So if.your employer does not state they want to you go beyond the advice, you can take the choice yourself but it would proberbly be classed as unload leave

I work in Sainsburys on tills and have self isolated for 2 weeks while I decide what to do. I also have PMR which is an autoimmune illness and am on steroids which suppress my immune system. I haven’t had a letter to tell me to shield so won’t be paid but feel my health is the important thing

It's personal choose to be sure, but one thing to bare in mind is that this two weeks is highly likely to extend. Possible to several weeks, just make sure calculations based on finances are not considering this sacrificing two weeks salary, becuase if it runs in for 2 months it's 2 months salary.

The restrictions for every one else will be lifted way before the guidances for people who are at high risk
