Oh yes! we lived in France for seven years, the Doctor took great pride in telling me that I could have two glasses of red wine with lunch, with dinner, and before bed.

I really enjoyed living in France

You also need to watch the next day... More so if you had quite a bit to drink..

The liver needs to process the acholo, 1 unit of acholo take on adverage 1 hour to process.. While it's doing this it can't maintain or renew the glucose in your liver (your safety store) so if you have a hypo you may not have mcuh or any to dump into your system... And remember that this little store also continuals to trickle into your system hence background/slow acting insulin...

I find if I had a drink, that I have more problems maintaing sugar levels and higher risk of hypo's the next day...

Ive only been type 1 for a year and am a typical student! Ive never really found that alcohol effects me that night but usually for the next day or so I have to take less insulin than usual because the alcohol is dropping my BS.

I also enjoyed being told by my doc that for my birthday if i was going out drinking to eat some bday cake when i got back! Is there a better excuse for indulging on a sugary treat?! I think my friends are slightly jealous that for me its medically acceptable to demand chips or pizza after a night out!

One strange thing ive found after being diagnosed is that I dont enjoy a greasy takeout as much anymore! It makes me feel really sick for about a day ...Anyone else experience this?!
