anybody using a pump successfully?

Hi

My dr has recommended that i switch to insulin pump cuz MDI is not working for me anymore?Changing insulins is no good because i am sensitive to insulin which means that control is hard. I would be interested if anybody could tell me of their experiences with one.
 
You might want to try posting or reading the pump thread of this forum. I'm sure they will have lots of useful information for you.

You sound similar to me, sensitive to insulin, with MDI I couldn't deliver small enough doses of insulin to match my needs I've been using my insulin pump now for almost 2 years (another a couple of days) I haven't looked back, as control is so much easier indeed

It took a bit of work to get started as you've need to think slightly differently, you have to start rebuilding your data, but saying that this doesn't take long to do, and then it's just making fine adjustments as you go.. A problem once and a while, but hey we'll diabetic life isn't ment to run smoothly but over all control is a lot better and easier with the little magic box...

My suggesting is do some research, look at the pump manufacturers sites (lot of info to be found via this source) see how you might tackle say a meal, with how the different bolus functions, or a situation where perhaps a change of plans means a reduction in insulin requirements!

But if they offering go for it, give it a try if you don't like it you can always hand it back... I will warn you there are a very few number of people, who decide that pumping isn't for them when they've tried it out :lol:
 
Hi I have started on Pump about a month ago and it really has worked for me

My av suger level has come down from 10.5 to 7.8 and it is really good for overnight suger level stays constant all night

Support staff have been very good with very good traning and post monitoring and it is very to do set change and no problem wearing the pump at night

I fully recommend it
