Sorry I haven't been on in a while, I've just had a letter through asking me to attend two diabetes awareness sessions at a hospital miles away from me. It says the sessions are two hours long and are interactive. I hate stuff like this it reminds me of the management training courses I used to have to go on for work and you're always made to do some really embarrassing stupid games. I don't really wanna go tbh. I feel my diabetes isn't bad like some people have it and I've got everything under control with my diet.

Are these sessions actually any good and do I have to go? I could understand if I was struggling to control it but I'm not. Has anyone here been to one?

of course you don't have to go..........

I tend to think any and all forms of education isn't a bad thing when it comes to diabetes, so I would go personally............

but if your not up for it that's OK too..........there are plenty of other sources of information.....

I have been on 2 of 4 sessions booked. They were not like the management games just discussion with different diabetes specialist. First one was just an awareness session with a DN. Second one more interesting with a dietician who told me to eat 265g of carbs a day??? ***!! I am lchf I told her. She said unless I start eating more carbs I am at greater risk of heart disease, colon cancer, bowl cancer etc etc. since low carbing I have lost over 2 stone, bp of 121/65. Resting heart rate of 54 bpm and total cholesterol of 3.96. Had an angiogram that is all clear and on the Dundee scale of heart risk I am 98. Told her to read my stats and go figure it out!
Another 2 sessions still to do as well. It's all fun if you enjoy a heated debate

Thanks, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I'll have to have a think about it
