Hello all,

I am currently pregnant with baby no.3. DS 2 was born at 17 weeks due to issues completely unrelated to diabetes. DS1 is 4 but it seems that care for pregnant T1s has changed since I had him. I got no viability scan etc. I paid for viability, 12 week and harmony test myself. I feel like I've forgotten a lot about control etc. My first pregnancy was a complete breeze, this one I just feel absolutely hideous. I haven't seen my DSN or team since December and feel a bit on my own. I have had a lot of hypos and this is making me feel down- its exhausting. With DS 1 I was seen in clinic every fortnight where I saw consultant, specialist midwife and had a scan!

My hospital are usually fantastic, supportive and caring, it might be that I am being oversensitive but things like they've sent me a growth scan for the end of September- baby will be 2 1/2 months old by then!!!!... it all just seems a bit disorganised! Guess I am just looking for someone who understands the plight of the T1 pregnant woman and I can whinge at as I (hopefully) go through this pregnancy!

To all of you good luck!

Hi @Loulou52. I've been posting on another page 'freaking out about positive result' which you're welcome to come chat on! A couple of us there are due August/September. I'm just 12 weeks and see my team every 2 weeks. I actually transferred from Lewisham hospital to kings college hospital as Lewisham told me they didn't have the specialist team to treat pregnant women on an insulin pump. Maybe speak to your team and see if you can transfer to a hospital with a specialist diabetes pregnancy department?

Hope it's all going ok generally. Hypos are a nightmare for me as I'm trying so hard not to have post-meal highs. It tough being pregnant and diabetic!!

That does sound rather disorganised with the growth scan! Have you tried giving them a call and checking they have all your details correct? If you did that, you could then maybe ask a bit about what your expectations should be for appointments. Then if you're not happy, you can think about changing hospitals.

I've had my baby now, but I saw my team every three or four weeks because I had good control. They told me they see many ladies every week. I also saw my community midwife every two weeks for normal pregnancy things.

And I don't think you're being over sensitive, by the way. Your concerns are perfectly reasonable.

Thanks. There is a specialist team and they've previously been fantastic! I think perhaps I need to be more proactive. With my first pregnancy I would always test high an hour after ( by high I mean 8/9) but within the next hour I was hypo. It didn't seem to matter though hba1cs ranged from 6.4-5.9 and DS1 was 6lbs 10oz at 39 weeks.

Will pop over and look at your post thanks @Bizzy-Bee

I think you should ring them too and just check they have your dates correct, can you call your dsn? I'm 22 weeks pregnant and am seen by DSN and consultant every 2 weeks and have had 3 scans now, hope you get sorted xx
