Anyone else freezing?

I did manage my bike ride today and had plenty of wind in the face to contend with. Only managed 6 miles but it felt like 10. Only needed a fleece and tshirt, scarf gloves joggers and my woolly socks and normal trainers but did get a nice rosy glow.......no alcohol required. The wind was icy coming off the sea.

Bit warmer at the moment but that's probably 'cos the office heating is working!! Feet are like blocks of ice though and I've been here for enarly an hour and had one hot mug of coffee. They forecast snow/sleet today. No sign as yet. :?

It has snowed overnight where I am. Since dx I have never felt the cold so badly in my life. It's probably weight loss as well. I am cringing at the thought of my heating bill :?

Caitycakes x

It was snowing this morning when my son left for school(8.20) but it didn't settle. Dunno about anyone else's fuel bills, but i'm electric only and i'm going through £20 a week (pre-payment) at the moment. Ouch!

there's one good side effect of freezing
I have lost a pound on a weekend that I ate more than normal, but I was so cold in Sherborne on Saturday that my shiver muscles round my torso went into spasm and stopped working. AND I was wearing a merino wool cardi over a cashmere sweater

Well people...group hugs to those that need it and certainly I know that we all tend to feel the cold more than the 'ordinaries' but ...err...it HAS been bloomin cold today you know...!!!

It is sooooo cold today! I work in a famous but very shabby (chic?) art college in central london and due to power cuts yesterday (dodgy old wiring!) the heating hasn't been on. So I'm sitting at my desk with a fan heater blowing directly on me and I'm still freezing!!

I'm always cold - it's a running joke in my family/workplace etc. What's not so funny are my heating bills

Diabetes grrrrrrrrr

snows a few miles away but nothing stuck here thankfully. If we get a couple of feet of snow I can get out of work!!

i am constantly wussy when it comes to the cold, now i take no chances and wear thermals almost all the time especially at work where some of the offices have no heating to speak of

however it is exceptionally cold at the moment

glad it is not just me though i do wish we were all complaining about the tropical heatwave instead 8)

Yesterday morning was sunny but barely above freezing when I walked downtown to do the shopping.

I walked back in the snow, great lumps about three inches across coming down and I got soaked.

After that I tweaked the heating up and sod the expense.

I'm not sure if it's the humidity or lack thereof which makes the cold colder, but it's been COLD.

It's the internal central heaing which I don't seem to have. Perhaps that's why my weight loss is so slow.
I have a faux log burner in my living room. Fuelled by gas, belts out heat. This tim eof year it's permanently surrounded by 4 legged furry people basking. Dogs and cats are co-existing peacably. Like an African water-hole?

One of my aunts had an Aga which always had various cats draped across it.

Have you had your thyroid checked? Sometimes hypothyroid regarded as not too low to be worth treating can have a major effect if you can actually get it treated. Might make the weight loss easier too.

My problem was always with a slow response to *changes* in temperature, yet another symptom that seems to have improved with BG control.

It's the car that feels it worst, it's dropped from a summer high of 64 mpg to under 60 and will probably go down to around 55 mpg before winter's over. It's a circular process, the engine is so efficient that it takes a long time to heat up the block and coolant in cold weather, and until it warms through the engine isn't efficient: short journeys don't help any either, it stays cold. I don't know if exercising until you are generating more internal heat might have the same effect on you?

Either that or the old joke "winter draws on" I can offer you a number of Damart catalogues (mother bought something from them once and now they won't leave her alone)

Today I actually took my fleece off at work!! Everybody nearly passed out with shock. Probably back to freezing tomorrow
