Hi folks, I'm looking for people who've had similar experiences. I'm a Type 2 diabetic and the adult child of a Type 1 diabetic who has been hypo unaware all of my life. Her frequent hypos loom large in my memory and it used to be quite frightening from a child's perspective. I have a tendency to suffer from depression, and I'm wondering whether these childhood experiences have any bearing on it. Thoughts?

Hi @sparfitt and welcome to the forum.
There are so many traumas that children experience when their parents are physically ill, using substances or are physically, verbally and emotionally abusive. This often leads to depression for them in later life.
It could well be that your depression has a bearing on your childhood experiences. Have you sought the help of your G.P.? Counselling is available and it may help you come to terms with your childhood.
