Type 1 Anyone else taking lisinopril tablets for kidney problems?

Have you any blood test results you could share with us? Doctors often prescribe from the lisonopril group of drugs to protect the kidneys it doesn't necessarily mean there's damage already, but of course it may do.

Whatever shape your kidneys at in it's never too late to try to help them. Any extra info you can give us would be helpful. Oh and welcome to the forum:)

Well I've been told they're leaking protein- and that's all I know. Ive been diabetic since I was 6, and I used to rebel quite a lot but I've gotten over that now. I've currently got a water infection / kidney infection too, on antibiotics. Just a bit worried about them :( the doc said there's nothing to worry about but I still do haha. Thanks!

Well if I were you I would ask for a copy of your most recent blood tests anyway when you next go to see him. I always ask for mine and I keep them as a guide to how well I'm doing. I'm sure your doctor will keep an eye on things to make sure nothing is amiss. In the meantime don't worry :)

Anyone else on lisinopril tablets for their kidneys? I'm 24. How worried should I be?
Lisinopril is like Ramapril - it's an ACE inhibitor to lower blood pressure. I seem to recall that the NICE Guidelines for T1 suggest that all T1s with a BP above 130/80 are put on to bp medication to reduce the risk of kidney damage and eye problems.

It's standard.

Ok thank you! I will do

Chloesnavy - If you have online access to your patient record at your surgery, you may be able to view your test results. I know I can go back a fair way for test results.

I hope your UTI goes quickly.

You need to look at your creatinine ratio. I think it should be under 3.5. The lower the better.. Stand to be corrected on this as it's off the top of my head....
