Hi all i am a type 2 diabetic was diagnosed in 2007 managements not been the best till 7 weeks ago when i had a triple heart bypass.
I have lost about 10kg and cut lot of things from my diet my last hba1c was 48 i have just started experimenting with the low carb diet im on novomix insulin taken twice a day.
My reading before main meal was 7.9 then i had low carb meatloaf which was so nice i had taken my insulin 10 minutes before which was 33ml 1 hour after my meal it was 5.1 then it dropped to 4.5 so had to have something else to eat also low carb but did not bring my sugars back up so reluctantly had a salad and ham sandwich when on waking my sugars where 5.8 so my morning dose i have reduced to 25ml i know big drop but sugars as of writing this are 4.5.
Here is the advice i need am i doing the right thing in reducing my insulin at the moment i am still recovering but want to hit the gym and lose bit more weight currently 5'11 and 85kg i been on insulin so long i dont want to make things worse by reducing it too much hope this makes sense cheers mick

If you follow low carb you will have to reduce insulin, and keep a close eye on those bg numbers. Low carb is well known for reducing or even eliminating the need for insulin with type 2. You have to be careful and always have your hypo counter stuff with you.
