soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
I decided at this late stage in the game, to do a series of tests at different times in the day, fasting, and before and 2 hours after after the 3 main meals. It will take a whole week to do this on rationed strips. I'm keeping notes of meals and exercise in a book, but a spreadsheet would look good. I'm going to see the DSN in a week or so. I made the appointment when I was down the other week. so don't want to waste it when I'm back to being more positive. I do still have some questions for her about the kidney disease thing. and whether 2 tests a week and an annual HbA1c is really enough information to keep healthy on. I tried to make a spread sheet in EXCEL, but I'm not a whizz on that sort of thing and didn't like what I made. then I though someone will have one already.

Strangely I spent some time this weekend collating all the results from my Freestyle freedom lyte into a spreadsheet, included graphs and trendlines, with columns for diet and meds info (could easily add exercise details if required)

PM me with an email address and I'll send you a copy you might be able to use...

I have my Freestyle Mini, but don't link it to the computer. I'm only supposed to test twice a week! I don't even know where the connector is. I do have it somewhere. But being a messy individual, I don't know where I put it

You might want to look at si diary(google it)Its now a commercial program (though quite cheap) but you can get a 30 day free trial that might suit your purpose.
It acts as a log for BG, BP, exercise (with place for dietary and other notes). It outputs data in various graphs and charts, even estimates HbA1c (in my case extremely accurately) You can export the data into an excel spreadsheet.
They also have a beta online version but I haven't tried it and don't know about print options.

I use onetouch programme downloaded from computer. The usb cable never has worked for me so I have to manually input the data.Question.....if Hana downloaded this programme and manually put in her data, even though it is from a freestyle mini would this work??

Hi Phoenix

All those things can be done in an Excel spreadsheet, but I'd love to know how they can possibly get anywhere near an HbA1C with a number of spot tests. An average is easy enough - but surely to get anything like an HBA1c you'd need to know how long each peak lasted and this would need almost continuous monitoring. Even if they have researched some complex algorithm it's going to be no more than an educated guess at best - do they give any idea how it's calculated?

Witan,
No idea what algorithm it uses, they stress its only an aproximate value. I test between 5 and 8 times a day and I don't have that many huge variations (SD about 22) so that probably helps.. I was surprised that its been spot on each time.

I Like the health diabetics one - shame it's in mg/dl though.

May try it with mmol/l to see what happens

Hana you might be interested in trying an Ultrasmart meter by OneTouch (lifescan).
This can log your exercise, food (carbs, fat, protein, etc) medication (pills and/or insulin) and also your health!

And it has a backlight too. It's not much bigger than the freestyle meter.

Otherwise... i'll have a dig around for my spreadsheets. I made a couple when i wa first diagnosed.

i will send them to you!

yes it will! You can manually enter data for all the options, food, meds, glucose, excerise, even hba1c, cholesterol, etc...

you can download the software from here...
http://en.lifescan.eu/YourMeter/OTDMS/default.aspx

It's free, bu you have to log in now to download it... they've changed the website dramatically recently...
