Danny, we have been here many times before about your diet and drinking. A change in diet would be good idea as would getting onto a basal/bolus insulin regime (sorry I'm a bit lost how your on twice daily injections and have novorapid), once you change over you to basal/bolus you'll be eligible to go on a carb counting course such as DAFNE.

A quick look on Google says this about the causes of Candida, I think you will agree you do fit into a couple of these categories:

The healthy bacteria in your gut typically keep your candida levels in check. However, several factors can cause the candida population to get out of hand:
  • Eating a diet high in refined carbohydrates and sugar (which feed the yeast)
  • Consuming a lot of alcohol
  • Taking oral contraceptives
  • Eating a diet high in beneficial fermented foods like Kombucha, sauerkraut and pickles
  • Living a high-stress lifestyle
  • Taking a round of antibiotics that killed too many of those friendly bacteria

Consensus among the medical community is that candida syndrome does, in fact, not exist.
Edit to add: There's also an article on Quackwach
