Hi, are you still getting the side effects such as loss of appetite, nausea, stomach pain etcI also am now into first bottle randomisation. The taste is slightly there but a lot milder than the first lot of bottles, they were pretty yucky. Definitely a stronger taste than these. I wonder if they cottoned on to us knowing by the taste & added a little something. My reaction to these tablets are totally different than the others so I think placebo even though there is a slight taste. Anyone else have no taste when swallowed?
Didn't really get any on the run in. A bit f refux but nothing else.Hi, are you still getting the side effects such as loss of appetite, nausea, stomach pain etc
This could be some of the pointers if you’re on the real pill or not. This is my opinion. Good luck.
Sorry to hear that. It really is difficult and i struggle with constipation and the nausea. It will be really interesting to see how long it takes to return to normal with no nausea, appetite and glucose levels.. can u post?Well, I gave it my best shot, but the debilitating nausea that started on Day 2 of run-in and was still present 4 weeks into randomisation, made me pull out. A shame - but I can't live like that.

Started my “Run In” phase yesterday and so far so good. No side affects other than fatigue. How are other folks doing?
Hi Sally I started my Run In phase about 3 weeks ago. No major side effects. Pain in my stomach for about 4 days but I still feel tired. The main thing is my blood sugar has dropped and stopped fluctuating. Good luck xxJust thought aid start a discussion here for anyone on the Ascend Plus trial by Oxford University.

Here's a link https://www.ascend-plus-trial.org/ I have just started, but I didn't realise that the trial has been going on so long. It is meant to have 20,000 participants, with repeat questionnaires over several years to assess the effect on heart problems.Sounds interesting but I’ve never heard of it? Would you be able to give more detail on what it is and what it entails or post a link about it? Think it would be helpful to other members to know more about it
Hi Sally, yes, I'm on it. Feel a bit like a guinea-pigJust thought aid start a discussion here for anyone on the Ascend Plus trial by Oxford University.

But that's the nature of the trial. I'm on phase 2, so no idea whether I'm on a placebo or the real deal. Happy to take part in the name of science and as it's the University of Oxford, you gotta trust you are in good hands.Hi Sally, yes, I'm on it. Feel a bit like a guinea-pig
Hi, yes i started the Run in A tablets about 6 weeks ago. I felt a little nauseous part of the time, very nauseous part of the time and was sick once. I got to the 7mg stage and couldn’t face feeling so sick everyday thereafter. Unfortunately i pulled out, i wish i could have felt better enough to continue as the benefits sound promising.Just thought aid start a discussion here for anyone on the Ascend Plus trial by Oxford University.

Started my “Run In” phase yesterdaI signed up for y and so far so good. No side affects other than fatigue. How are other folks doing?
I'm Type 2 (C. 20 years) (awful family legacy from both sides) and have just received the letter and signed up, but have heard nothing yet. I am interested to hear what others experience. My situation is complex because I have chronic diverticulitis and lupus. The diverticulitis is so difficult because what you eat for diabetes sends you on the toilet several times a day as well as limiting excursions! The surgery dietary advice I've received is mashed potatoes, pasta and white rice and white bread and "we can't cure everything." so you can imagine what that does to blood sugar, weight, electrolytes and vitamin retention. I hesitated because the study said that there may be stomach issues, so thank you for starting the thread and I'll be interested to hear what others experience. Of course, I could get the placebo and have to control my imaginationJust thought aid start a discussion here for anyone on the Ascend Plus trial by Oxford University.

My diverticulitis and ibs vanished totally as soon as I went very low carb. I do make sure I include milled seeds for fibre when needed. With hindsight following the white startches advice never did anything for me, changing to brown meant my bg stayed high. The diverticulitis is so difficult because what you eat for diabetes sends you on the toilet several times a day as well as limiting excursions! I am on the trial but post the random selection phase.I was really looking forward. To this but failed at final hurdle. I filled the questionaire in but w
as rejected. Not quite sure why but I do have other health problems and have had a couple of hypos in the last three months
Yes I’ve started that as well . Into my sixth week and had a few problems with tummy issues . But I’m working on them .
I had the same experience. After a month on the randomisation my BG levels had gone back up to double figures with no side effercts. I have now pulled out of the trial and have semaglutide prescribed by my GP, starting again on 3mg for 1 month and I'm now into my second month on 7mg. My morning BG level is stable at 6.0 to 6.3, but it goes down from that at lunchtime it is sometimes between 4.3 and 5.0 and I find myself eating chocolate to bring my level back up. I'm going to talk to my diabetic nurse to see if I can reduce my other medication (Metformin and Gliclazide).I’m one month in to the randomisation phase now and convinced I’m on the placebo. All my side effects (nausea mainly) being in the run in of Semaglutide have stopped. The down side is there has been quite an upsurge in my BG levels. Now true, this has coincided with a little more indulgence over Xmas but I’m surprise by how much of a difference it has made especially to my morning levels. I clearly lost some weight on the drug but pleased today no weight gain since being on this “placebo”.
Anyone else on this and at the Randomisation phase?
