Hi there guys, I'm new to the forums, but I've looked before, all really cool stuff here.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could help me out? I'm 15 and back in April/May I started getting really ill (like weight loss, tiredness, litres of water etc. and sometimes getting dizzy and I collapsed a few times too.)

So, I thought it would just pass, but it didn't so I asked to go to the doctors. He told me I might be diabetic so took bloods etc. The tests came back AOK, which was a surprise to me, to be honest.

Ever since then I still am ill. I try to get some right food down me, I know to make sure I'm getting a balance. And I always have some Dextrose on me, cause I collapse when I feel 'low' and have done quite a few times. I know what to look for when I'm going 'low' and kinda act on it and the dextrose really works, it brings me right out of the horrible state I'm in. I sometimes go 'high' to and get ratty and stuff.

My friend's diabetic so we look out for each other, she helps me out makes sure I'm ok.

So, I amn't diabetic, the tests say so. So I just wondered if there was anything else. I'm not a generally ill person, I'm relatively fit and eat well. It's just getting in the way of life now, I mean, 'Sorry guys, I'm not feeling good, can I get something to eat?' Gets a little tedious for me and everyone else. Plus it's embarrassing sitting there breathing heavily and then eventually not being able to walk...

Sorry for the spiel. Hope someone can help! If anyone needs symptoms then they can ask, didn't know if it would help... hehe.

Thanks!

I feel the way you have described sometimes and it means I am having a panic attack, I'm not saying it is that. I'd go back to my GP and tell them it isn't going away

Hi Charlie, welcome to the forum.

I would say you need a second opinion on this and need to go back to the doctor's.
When the blood test was done was it a fasting blood test or just a normal one?

Have you ever had the opportunity to test your own blood sugar level when you feel ' low' and see just what the actual level is?

Thanks Kastrian, I don't think it's panic attacks but thanks for the help.

Thanks SugarlessSue too. Would it have made any difference to the test if I was feeling ok when it was done? I felt ok that morning. And it was a fasting one.

=) Really appreciate your help!

I'm only very new to the forum and to diabetes but I thought I'd put my twopenneth in anyway..

If your friend is diabetic could they maybe test you (with a new needle of course) when you're feeling rubbish so you can see what's going on? As far as I'm aware (correct me if I'm wrong anyone!) if you were diabetic your sugar levels would always be high so your test would show it even if you weren't feeling awful at the particular time and also you wouldn't be getting the lows you speak of...? I used to get hypoglycemic for years before I got diabetes, with all the symptoms and it going away when I had something sugary, I asked my diabetes specialist nurse whether she thought this could be connected to me later getting diabetes and she said everybody gets low if they don't eat anything for too long, and I was getting it quite often too like you so I think hypoglycemia can be a condition in itsself?

However, I wasn't losing any weight or drinking loads or needing the toilet too often or anything, so that sounds like it could be something more serious, and it is suprising if it's not diabetes since they're all the classic symptoms! I think a second opinion from another doctor is definitely called for if it's not going away..

You really need to get other tests done to determine what is wrong with you. Document all your symptoms and get back to the doctor's. If it is not diabetes then you need to find out what is wrong with you.

Thanks guys =)

I said that to my friend but she also said that exersise could do it to you, which, when I think of it was pretty true today when I walked 3 miles or so I started to feel awfully and dizzy and confused some time after.

And I think I am going to see the doctor. ASAP hopefully.

Thanks once again guys!

Hi Charlied,
I'm new to posting too, so hi. Years ago i worked with somebody who wasn't a diabetic but did have a glucose deficency, you were saying that these attacks happen when you have done quite a bit? My work colleague had similar symptons. If you see the dr ask about that. Hope all goes ok! Loneranger.
